This training is intended for substance use prevention professionals in Texas who have been in the field of prevention for at least 1 year.
About the SAPST Training:
The Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) is a foundational course of study in substance abuse prevention. The SAPST was developed by SAMHSA. It is for entry-level prevention practitioners working in states, jurisdictions, tribes and communities. The SAPST training is grounded in current research and SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework. It provides knowledge and skills to implement effective, data-driven prevention programs, practices, and policies that reduce behavioral health disparities and improve wellness.
Pre Requisite: 5 hour self paced introductory online module
Day 1 Tuesday, October 18, 2022- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (CST)
Day 2 Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (CST)
Day 3 Tuesday, October 25, 2022 - 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (CST)
Day 4 Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (CST)
Continuing Education Hours: 26.0* total over 4 days
Satisfactory completion of continuing education hours (CEHs) requires attending at least 85% of the training duration, participating in activities (e.g., polls, breakout rooms), and completing the training evaluation.
Requirements:
This SAPST training is virtual, occurring live over Zoom. All participants are required to join on camera and expected to fully engage in the training to be eligible to receive a Continuing Education (CE) certificate upon completion. Participants do not need a Zoom account to attend the training – you may attend through any internet browser option if you do not want to download the app.
Registration:
This training is limited to 24 participants. You must submit a registration and be approved to attend (you will receive an email approving or denying your registration). Only one registration required to attend all four days. Training is 4 non-consecutive days, your registration is confirmation that you will be available all 4 days of this training.
