This training is intended for substance use prevention professionals in Texas funded to implement the Learning to BREATHE curriculum.
About this Mindfulness Training:
This interactive training will introduce mindfulness to Learning to BREATHE facilitators and will serve as a pre-requisite to the Learning to BREATHE Curriculum training. Mindfulness is an essential practice for enhancing mental and emotional well-being. Participants will explore the differences between mindfulness and meditation, review the history and evidence-based benefits of mindfulness, and learn foundational techniques to integrate into personal and professional life. This course empowers attendees to deepen self-awareness, reduce stress, and foster resilience through practical mindfulness exercises and reflective discussion.
Learning Objectives:
- Define mindfulness and meditation, understanding the distinct purposes and benefits of each practice.
- Gain knowledge about the history, research, and evidence-based benefits of mindfulness, particularly in supporting mental and emotional health.
- Practice and learn to conduct at least two foundational mindfulness techniques.
- Identify personalized next steps for integrating mindfulness into daily routines and professional contexts before the follow-up session.
There will be several breaks throughout the training including a designated lunch break.
Continuing Education Hours: 4.0*
Satisfactory completion of continuing education hours (CEHs) requires attending at least 85% of the training duration, participating in activities (e.g., polls, breakout rooms), and completing the training evaluation.
Requirements:
This mindfulness training is virtual, occurring live over Zoom. All participants are expected to fully engage in the training, which calls for reliable internet connection and use of a webcam. All participants are encouraged to join on camera and expected to fully engage in the training to be eligible to receive a Continuing Education (CE) certificate upon completion.
Registration:
This training is limited to 50 participants. Registration priority will be given to Texas HHSC funded substance use prevention providers funded to implement the Learning to BREATHE curriculum.
