AS+K? About Suicide to Save a Life (AS+K) is a suicide prevention community training for adults that teaches how to identify and approach an individual who may be at risk for suicide and provide support and resources. It provides participants with an overview of safe messaging, the basic epidemiology of suicide, the public health approach to suicide prevention, risk and protective factors, and warning signs often associated with suicide.
Participants are trained to:
- Recognize warning signs—language, behaviors and characteristics that might indicate elevated risk for suicidal behavior.
- How to ask a person if they might be thinking about suicide.
- How to connect the person to qualified care.
Continuing Education Hours: 1.5* Satisfactory completion of continuing education hours (CEHs) requires attending at least 85% of the training duration, participating in activities (e.g., polls, breakout rooms), and completing the training evaluation.
Requirements This training is virtual, occurring live over Teams. All participants are encouraged to join on camera and expected to fully engage in the training to be eligible to receive a Continuing Education (CE) certificate upon completion.
