Phoenix House Texas has provided addiction treatment and prevention services in Texas since 1995. Each year, we help adolescents overcome drug and alcohol addiction and find recovery in order to lead productive drug-free lives. Responsibilities:

• Responsible for accurate completion of monthly reports and other documentation related to the progress of participants in the program
• Promotes and utilizes a research-based curriculum as designated by the program contract for youth and/or families..
• Presents facilitate, and co-facilitates various group, individual, family, and public education presentations.
• Conducts pre-tests and post-tests on all participants as designated by the program contract

Requirements:

• Degree in education, social work, or related field preferred.
• Certified Prevention Specialist designation preferred
• Two years' experience working with youth in chemical dependency prevention, intervention, or treatment setting. One-year of experience working with families is preferred for programs with family programs.
• Must maintain a valid Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy

Join a dynamic, passionate group of substance use counselors, case managers, and prevention specialists. In the Substance Use Disorder department, we strive to work with you and provide opportunities for growth in working with a diverse population.

Under the supervision of the Director of Substance Use Services, Assistant Director of Substance Use Services and the Prevention Coordinator, the Prevention Specialist will

• Plan, coordinate and implement prevention curriculum and wellness activities in schools and community
• Advocate for policies and laws focused in reducing access to alcohol and other substances and promote healthy lifestyle for youth and families.
• Work to raise public awareness of the risks & consequences of drug use and educate the community about current and emerging drug trends
• Support stigma reduction of mental health and substance use disorders
• Work in collaboration with community partners to increase health promotion and improve behavioral health
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports, and attend meetings and training as required
• Provide resources and referrals to the most appropriate level of care or services
• Work collaboratively with the Prevention Coordinator and Prevention Specialist to plan and provide guidance on all prevention activities and issues.
• Wiliness to drive to various locations within Williamson County limit, as part of the job responsibilities.
