This interactive training introduces mindfulness as an essential practice for enhancing mental and emotional well-being. Participants will explore the differences between mindfulness and meditation, review the history and evidence-based benefits of mindfulness, and learn foundational techniques to integrate into personal and professional life. This course empowers attendees to deepen self-awareness, reduce stress, and foster resilience through practical mindfulness exercises and reflective discussion.

Class focus for your training will be the age group of your choice, however once trained you will be certified to deliver all SFP age variants.

PAX Tools for Human Services is a collection of trauma-informed evidence-based behavioral strategies for adults who work with young people in their professional practice. These strategies promote the development of self-regulation in young people, reduce conflict between young people and adults, and improve relationships.

The goal of this workshop is to provide a refresher for those prevention specialists who have already fulfilled their 6-hour requirement but would benefit from a review and update of basic prevention ethics concepts. This training is intended for substance use prevention professionals in Texas.

This workshop will offer a broad overview of the theory and research behind Learning to BREATHE (L2B), a mindfulness-based intervention for adolescents and young adults. For the foundation workshop, participants will experience some of the activities and practices of L2B as if they were students in the L2B class. Since those who teach mindfulness must experience mindfulness themselves, the workshop includes periods of mindfulness practice for participants throughout both days. Some prior experience with mindfulness is helpful but is not a prerequisite for participation.

This training is intended for Youth Prevention (YP) providers who are approved by Texas HHSC to implement Blues Program curriculum.

This multi-day workshop is designed to help you facilitate the growth of mindfulness in adolescents using the Learning to BREATHE (L2B) program. Demonstration, small-group practice and group feedback are done for each of the six themes of the program. Discussion about the role of the teacher and the pedagogical elements of mindfulness-based programs is part of the workshop. We will be engaged in a mix of demonstration, practice teaching and group discussion throughout both days. The workshop is intended to prepare participants to actually teach the program, so it relies more on practice than on presentation of theoretical and research background information. A short overview of the curriculum will be shared on day 1. All materials for the workshop will be provided (except the manual itself which can be purchased from New Harbinger or Amazon). If you have access to a L2B manual, you may wish to look through it in advance.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.

In this module participants begin the training by exploring social determinants of health, multiculturalism, positionality, cultural humility, implicit bias that contribute to cultural appropriate service delivery. Participants will explore important considerations about what may influence our ability to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate prevention services.

PAX Tools for Community Educators- An individual who completes this training will become a Certified PAX Tools Community Educator, authorized to present PAX Tools Community Workshops for parents & caregivers in their own community.

In this module participants will review basic communication concepts, explore this specific cross-cutting competency, and be introduced to spotlighted concepts that may influence the messaging of prevention services. This training is intended for substance use prevention professionals in Texas.
