This training is intended for CCP prevention professionals in Texas who did not complete these sessions at TX APPM.
About the Mapping Local Realities training:
This training will focus on strengthening how coalitions identify and understand local conditions that influence youth and community outcomes. Participants will examine multiple data sources (Texas School Survey, Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, school surveys, and law enforcement data) and explore how each contributes to a more complete picture of community risk and protective factors. Participants will practice connecting data to real world community conditions, so assessments more accurately reflect local realities and inform meaningful prevention planning.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
-
Identify and compare multiple local data sources used to assess community conditions, risk factors, and protective factors;
-
Apply a structured approach to conducting needs assessments that reflect local context rather than isolated data points; and
-
Connect quantitative data with qualitative community insights to develop a more complete understanding of root causes impacting youth substance use and related outcomes.
