This training is intended for substance use prevention professionals in Texas.
In this workshop participants will gain an understanding of the Strategic Prevention Framework and its key components. This workshop will also demonstrate the importance of cultural competency in prevention work and how it can help to ensure that prevention efforts are relevant and effective for diverse populations. It will explore the cultural factors that can influence substance use and related problems, including attitudes, beliefs, and values related to substance use and prevention. Our facilitator will help participants identify strategies for promoting cultural competency in each stage of the Strategic Prevention Framework, including how to engage diverse communities, build culturally responsive prevention programs, and evaluate the effectiveness of prevention efforts for different populations.
Continuing Education Hours: 3.0*
Satisfactory completion of continuing education hours (CEHs) requires attending at least 85% of the training duration, participating in activities (e.g., polls, breakout rooms), and completing the training evaluation.
Requirements
This training is virtual, occurring live over Zoom. All participants are encouraged to join on camera and expected to fully engage in the training to be eligible to receive a Continuing Education (CE) certificate upon completion.
